Digital 4th Grade Pen Pal Project

Fort Island Primary School and Arrowhead Primary School are participating in a collaborative “Pen Pals” project.  This project pairs fourth grade students from each building with a pen pal to communicate with on a weekly basis from the computer lab. The students are utilizing Google Drive to write and share their posts and letters with their partner.  This project is a great introduction to Google Drive and will encourage the lifelong skill of responsible online communication. It also supports learning standards related to communication and collaboration i.e., work collaboratively within a Google document with teachers and peers; participate in learning activities or cooperative projects through digital tools.  The students are enjoying these conversations as they build their keyboarding skills, letter writing skills, and digit communications skills in every letter sent.
