CFMS Wins National Book Fair Award
Library Media Associates, Bonnie Hershey and Connie Tyree, just received the Scholastic Presidential Award for Advertising for the CFMS Book Fair. This is a national competition, sponsored by Scholastic, to utilize student and community involvement to promote literacy.
Mrs. Hershey and Mrs. Tyree worked with
their sixth grade students during library classes to create student-generated
book trailers using digital video and green screen technology, and organized
student "book talks”. They also used
Medieval themed advertising including; a town crier, medieval name generators,
and royal proclamations. PTSA parents
came in to assist with decorations and to help run the book fair. Because
of the hard work of the students, parents, and the media staff, the media
center will also receive $500.00 in Scholastic dollars to purchase books from
Scholastic that will be available for all middle school students to borrow from
their school library.
Congratulations to CFMS students, PTSA, and media staff for their efforts to promote literacy in our district!
