Copley's Career Tech Marketing Program
Copley's Career Tech Marketing Program took 1st place in the State for the Principles of Marketing event during the DECA Career Development Conference which took place the weekend of March 17, 2017 in Columbus. DECA is a prestigious competitive organization for marketing students across the globe.
This was Copley's first year competing in the DECA in over 10 years, and Haley's first year as a member of the organization, which is why it's a huge win for our school and community! During the role play portion of the event, Haley created a pie chart and improvised statistics to support her talking points, a concept analyzed during a unit on Numbers in Marketing in the classroom. Her judge was extremely impressed by the performance, commenting, "I have not seen anyone make such good use of detailed visuals in my many years of judging the Principles of Marketing event." DECA's mission is to "prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe." The principles practiced through this year's competitions have helped students in the Marketing program acquire leadership skills that will impact our community for years to come. Haley's first place ranking landed her a spot at the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, CA which will take place April 26 - April 30, 2017. Marketing students, Sarah Mihalik, who placed in the top 12, JT Forster, and Parker Stinson, also did an excellent job competing at the state level last weekend in Columbus! Good Luck at Nationals Copley!
