  • You Be the Chemist Competition Results

    CFMS 7th graders (Tyler Allen, Zoe Ashenfelter, Ryan Lee) and 8th graders (Bence Dobo, Christina Abou-Elias and Ari Thomas) competed in the You Be the Chemist competition sponsored by the Akrochem Corp. on Saturday at the Double Tree Hotel in Fairlawn. The students qualified by taking a test given to all 7th and 8th grade students at CFMS. Advancing to the intermediate round were Tyler Allen, Bence Dobo and Christina Abou-Elias. 8th grader Christina Abou-Elias advanced to the state compettition to be held in Toledo in April. Last year, CFMS 8th grader Aristo Liu won the state championship and finished in the top 15 at the national competition.

  • CFMS Students Advance in Spelling Bee

    CFMS students Clay Clugsten & Ella Collins (8th grade) and Sarah Dickson (7th grade) advanced to the 2nd round of the Akron Beacon Journal Summit County Spelling Bee last Saturday. The trio will compete to advance to the regional on Saturday, March 10th at the Akron Public Library downtown.

  • You Be The Chemist Results

    CFMS qualifiers fared very well in the 2nd annual You Be The Chemist Challenge organized by the Akrochem Corporation. The following students competed at the Fairlawn Double-Tree Hotel on Saturday, March 4th for a chance to advance to the state level competition: 7th graders Ari Thomas and Collin Wood 8th graders Aristo Liu, Grant Link, Jasmine Walker, Joshua Hertz, Nathan Hazlett and Rubie Shay Finishing in the final 4 were Aristo Liu and Jasmine Walker.

  • Spelling Bee Finalists

    CFMS is proud to announce that two of our four qualifiers have advanced to the final round of The Akron Beacon Journal Spelling Bee. Sixth grader Sarah Dickson and seventh grader Zach Heckendorn will compete for a spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. on Saturday March 11th at the downtown Akron Public Library.
