  • GREAT JOB AT AKRON!! Both middle school and high school have qualified to attend the 2019 States Competition!
*Results from the competitions can be found under the "States 2019" tab
The students will find out the state schedule at the end of the week. Information about hotels and the state competition will be provded before Spring Break. As we move forward, we will have the following schedule:
A Week Practice on 3/14 (Full practice all students)
B Week Practice on 3/21 (Full practice all students)
A Week Practice on 3/28 (Full practice all students)
(3/29-4/7 Spring Break: Students should meet up with their partners to prepare. Additional Practices may be scheduled for specific events)
4/11, 4/18, 4/25: No "regular" scheduled practices, but your day and time is still an option if it works best for you- you MUST let me know. These are the last three practices before States and all focus should be on placing as a team at the State Competition. Last year the middle school was 20th at States, our goal is to beat this place (top 15). Last year the middle school was 27th at States, our goal is to beat this place (top 15)
STATES: 4/27 at The Ohio State University- We leave Friday night and stay in a hotel. Students/Parents will need to fill out the "State Sign Up" Spreadsheet Tab SIGN UP FOR THE STATE REMIND: @statesso

*Interesting in joining next year? We are always looking for students and coaches for the program. Check out the calendar for informational meetings in September. Practices start in October and are held on Thursdays. Students in grades 5-12 are welcome!

**If Copley-Fairlawn City Schools are "Closed" on a Saturday due to weather our bus will be cancelled. You may still choose to attend the invitational (unless that invitational is also cancelled for weather, although this does not usually happen). Parents are welcome to drive and carpool to the competition if they want to brave the weather to compete. We will plan on putting the students who are able to make the drive into the competition for the day. It will be a crazy day :)
*All coaches listed as well as A and B week information

Each event will have its own google doc in the Science Olympiad Folder (assignments and homework)  Please check your event page for communication for your event. Coaches will update the information as available.

Students should try out new events and should pay particular attention to the events with low attendance. The events with less students means a greater chance of attending the competitions. Suggestions will be made after the first few weeks of practice. Students should be prepared to work. The hour of practice will go quickly and there is plenty of information to cover. Students should expect to study new materials and information as homework until the next practice. Students should also use their school google doc accounts to gather information and create note sheets for the competitions. There is a significant amount of independent study in this program.

More information about the schedule can be found on the Science Olympiad calendar on this webpage. Questions about the program will be explained in the "General Information" section. Please check this website frequently as it is the best way for our team to communicate.
