Copley High School National Merit Finalists Announced
Copley High School is proud to have three Finalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition. Congratulations to seniors: Nathan G. Hazlett, Aristo S. Liu and Ryan F. Pinard!
Started in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarship which approximately 1.5 million high school students enter each year. High school juniors who meet the participation requirements enter the competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test.
Of the 1.5 million entrants, approximately 15,000 semifinalists are notified in February that they have advanced to the Finalist standing. All winners of Merit Scholarship awards are chosen from the Finalist group based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments. A wide variety of information is evaluated, including the Finalist’s academic record, information about the school’s curriculum and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score, the high school’s official written recommendation, information about the student’s activities and leadership, and the Finalist’s own essay.
We are incredibly proud of these Copley scholars and the hard work and dedication it has taken to receive this level of recognition. Congratulations to Nathan, Aristo and Ryan!
