    (Read till 1/23)  TODAY is the big day! We have just a few more days until our Jordan Sonnenblick visit. Students that placed a book order last week will receive their books on the day of the visit and will be able to have them autographed. 

     

    Any student who wishes to buy a book on the day of the visit may bring money for a book purchase and will be able to meet the author and have the book autographed. Prices range from 8-20 dollars and exact prices can be found on the recent order form. Ask your ELA teacher for more details.

    (Read till 1/24) The CFMS Science Fair is coming! The Science Fair is a fun and exciting way to learn about science! If you want to participate in this year's Science Fair, just fill out the green flyer and send it into the Main Office by Friday, Jan. 31st with your $5 participation fee. You can work alone or with ONE other person from your same grade level, but you must send in the flyer and $5 fee. If you have any questions, there are many students who have participated in the past and can give you advice or you can ask a staff member. This year's Science Fair will be DURING school on Wednesday, March 17 with an after-school Open House on Tuesday, March 16. We hope you will join us to explore science and share your scientific powers!

    (Read till 1/23)  Would you like to spend a weekend away, meet new people, have fun, and learn new information from your peers? If you answered “YES” to that question,  you should attend the Summit County Youth to Youth camp, February 14-16. Deadline for registration is January 24. If you are interested in learning more about this awesome and fun opportunity please see Mrs. Sako or Miss Faith in the Guidance Office.

    Attention NJHS members: Round two of bag packing for the Copley Cares program will be held TODAY in the multipurpose room. The same 24 students who signed up for this activity last time will need to report to the multipurpose room at 12:10 during flex on Thursday. Please check our Google Classroom for more details and see Ms. Faith in the guidance office if you have any questions. 




    CFMS Sports Report:  

     

    Congratulations to the wrestling team on their top five finish at last weekend's Maple Heights Tournament.  Placing 5th place in their weight class were; Patrick Driscoll, Jackson Gamsby, and Drew Humphrys. 

    Dominc Catalano earned a third place finish, while Devonn Nixon and Taquan Billingsly were crowned championship of their weight classes.

    Scoring big points for the team and continuing to get better were; Chad Snelling, Nate Dennison, Xandre Flohr, Robert Kannelis, Cole Flanick, Dorian Sharpe, Sam Gmerek, Jakob Bane, Jackson Albaugh, and Sherif Hassan.

    The 7th grade girls improved their record to 9-2 by beating Nordonia 39-20.  The leading scorer for the lady Indians was Ellena Davis with 10 points. Also putting points on the scoreboard for Copley were Ali Chesney with 7 points, Emma Niemezura with 5 points, Jameah Little with 4 points, Callie Conzaman with 3 points, Hailey Himmelreich with 2 points, Abby Kolonich with 2 points, Caris Aufdenberg with 2 points, Michele Weng with 1 point, and Angie Lane with 1 point.  Great Job Ladies!! Next up will be Highland at home on Thursday.

    The eighth grade girls basketball team beat Nordonia Tuesday to raise their record to 10 and 0 in the league and play 9 and one Highland today at 4:00.  Contributing to the win were Isabella Burch with an assist and steal; Allison Pittman had 3 assists and 2 rebounds; Valerie D'Amico had 4 steals and 3 assists; Alexa Strandberg had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals;  Kate Young had 4 assisis, 2 steals and 4 points; Colleen Bauer and Katey Firestine had 5 points each; Sydney Leach had 6 points; Emily Kerekes had 7 points and 3 steals; Kami Ayoup had 4 rebounds, 3 blocks and 8 points;  and Izzy Callaway had 3 rebounds, 4 steals and 21 points. Come cheer the girls on today at 4:00 against Highland.

    CFMS Club News:

     

    What an amazing showing at our first invitational of the season! Despite the weather and some last minute changes, we were able to compete at the Kenston Invitational on Saturday. Both the middle school and high school teams took home multiple awards in their events and each school placed overall in the competition.

     

    The Copley-Fairlawn Middle School Team won fifth place overall. The following students placed in the top 8 in their events: Izzy Januszewski, Sarah Lawrence, Eric Luster, Kian Farahati, Chaz Franchetti, Ayah Abbas, Hannah Roush, Grace Lancianese, Julia Nielson, Mia Januszewski, Thomas Fortin, Sam Burford, Jonah Rothschild, Gideon Garner, Sofia Dordevic

    and Carter Rohr. 

     

    Congratulations to all the students that competed. The middle school will compete at Solon Middle School on February 1st. Permission slips are available in room 632. Good Luck Team!

    CFMS Sports Report:  

     

    The eighth grade girls basketball team remained undefeated in the suburban league by beating Revere last Thursday.  Contributing to the game were Sydney Leach with 3 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 points; Colleen Bauer had a 3 pointer; Alexa Strandberg had 4 points and 3 rebounds;  Katey Firestine had 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 points; Kate Young had 6 points; Emily Kerekes had 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 4 steals and 6 points; Izzy Calaway had 5 assists and 9 points and Kami Ayoup had 2 steals and 11 points.

    The 7th grade girls basketball team got another win to improve their record to 8-2 by beating Revere 30-24 in a close game.  The ladies played tough on both ends of the floor. Emma Niemezura hit a huge 3 point shot to tie up the game late in the fourth quarter followed by a  Jameah Little steal and lay-up to seal the win. The leading scorer for Copley was Angie Lane with 11 points. Also, scoring for the lady Indians was Jameah Little with 6 points, Ellena Davis with 5 points, Emma Niemezura with 4 points, and Callie Conzaman with 4 points.  Great job ladies!!! Up next is Nordonia on Tuesday and Highland on Thursday.
