     2/7/19

Well, the season has concluded and the 7th grade lady indians won the Suburban League Championship.  The team took on all comers this year and played their heart out each and every game.  The team beat Revere in the semi-finals by a score of 40-21. Then the ladies took on the mighty Stow Bulldogs who were riding a 13 game win streak.

Our ladies beat Stow 47-35 to win the Suburban League Championship and they earned every bit of it versus a very hard opponent.  Congrats to Stow on a great season!  Also, congratulations to all of the teams in the Suburban League on completing the 2018-19 season basketball season.

Congrats to the ladies on winning the championship.  We have our Awards Ceremony on Friday for all families and players as it will be a great way to close out this great season.

    SUBURBAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!

    _________________________________________________________________

    2/4/19

Hey, a lot has happened since the last post. We avenged our loss of the season to Revere by a score of 41-20.  Our ladies were ready for the challenge and it showed.  We beat Barberton and Massilion along the way to push our regular season record to 12-1.  Our games to Highland and Brecksville got snowed out and cancelled.

We just had our first game of the Suburban League Tournament this past Saturday where we beat Tallmadge by a score of 45-23. The game was tight early but we pulled away in the second half.  We now play Revere again for the 3rd time this season and I know they will come out strong. However, we have to match their intensity level and work harder than them early. This is a semi-final game and the winner goes on to the championship to face the winner of Highland and Stow.

We have faced a lot of adversity this season this but perservered and played basketball the right way with no foul play.  The ladies have worked hard for this moment and they will work hard to advance to the championship game.

The game is tomorrow at 4pm at Highland Middle School vs. Revere.  Come out and support the ladies if you can.  We will need all the support we can get.  If we win, we play in the championship on Wednesday evening at 5:15pm at Highland Middle School again.

It has been awesome to coach these ladies and prepare them for high school ball.  They have a great future ahead of them and I want them to finish off this season with a bang.

We will have the Awards Ceremony on Friday in the CFMS Cafeteria from 5-6:30pm.

Jersey Collection will be Thursday after school at the Pizza Party in the New Gym.

    Thanks and GO COPLEY!!!!!

Hey guys, a lot has happened since the last post.  We have played three games since then and have went 3-0.

We played Brecksville at home and won 60-18.  The ladies played very fiesty in the game and played with high intensity throughout the game.

The next game was North Royalton last Thursday and despite a tough crowd and slow start, the team picked it and cruised to a 36-10 victory.  The ladies kept up the intensity and played as hard as they could.  Everyone contributed to the team win and the team really came together to the lady Polar Bears to 2 second half points.

Finally, we played Wadsworth at Wadsworth yesterday and it what was one of our most toughest games.  We brought home the win in a close game while sweeping them this season.  The final score was 27-22 and our ladies played lock down defense in the 4th quarter only allowing 2 points.

The team has no practice today but will square off against Barberton at home tomorrow.  Should be a fun one.  Please come out and support the team at 4pm tomorrow.

    Thanks and Go Copley!

    1/4/19

Welcome back from the holidays!  I hope it was a good one for everyone.

The Escape Rooms were a blast as the team got a chance to bond and work together.  They learned a lot from their experience.  We discussed their thoughts on it and they kept saying, you can't rely on one person to figure things, it is a team effort.  I thought that is a good learning experience for not only basktetball but also life in general.  Nice work to the ladies on that.

Second, we played our 8th game of the season yesterday vs. Woodridge.  The ladies played great defense as the they limited the lady bulldogs on offense.  The final score was 32-3.  The lady indians 7th grade team improved their recored to 7-1 on the season and will continue to work hard as a team the rest of the season.  For the team, instilling a team first mentality is the most important thing.  This group of ladies has that and we will continue to keep that the focal point of the season.

We play two games next week.  First at home vs. Brecksville and second at North Royalton.

    GO COPLEY!!!!!!

    12/20/18

The ladies have been really busy with a lot of different things.  First, Adopt-a-Family was a great team building idea.  The ladies bought and wrapped presents for the family the team adopted and were able to donate them.  The best part of this season is to share and give back.  I am super proud of that because it is all about "family."

The ladies also participated in a team Gift Exchange which was a blast.  I am glad we were able to do that for one another.

Second, we played two games this past week.  We went 1-1 for the week and took our first defeat of the season in a close and highly contested ball game.  Both team were scrapping it out but we were on the short end of the stick for that one vs. Revere in Game 6 of the season.  We lost to Revere by 5 points.  The game came down to the final minute of the game.  We will definitely see them again.

Game 7 of the season was against Medina and the ladies bounced back from the loss to win 51-6.  The ladies were looking to get back in the win column and did in a big way.  Kudos to the ladies for stepping up vs. Medina.

We have our final practice before Christmas today.  Then we will be back at practice Dec. 26th, 27th, and 28th from 10-12pm at the middle school.

Team Bonding #4 will be on January 2nd.  There will be more information sent out in an email with regards to that.

It has been a pleasure coaching these ladies so far.  I am looking forward to a great 2nd half of the season.  The team is 6-1 and will look to improve on that in January and February.

Happy Holidays to all and be safe!!!!

The 7th grade team had a great week last week.  The team went 3-0 last week and will look to continue it's hard play this week vs.  Barberton and Highland.  The team will look to keep working hard and playing as a team.

Both games this week are away. Please be sure to come out and support the 7th grade lady indians.

    Thanks!!!

    12/4/18

The 7th grade team had a great start to the season with a big win over the Jackson Lady Polar Bears.  The team won 39-20.  Our team fought hard all the way to the very end and it was good to see a lot of girls get involved yesterday.  The team is 1-0 and will look to step up against North Royalton tonight at home.  The game is at 4pm.

Good job ladies!  Keep it up!  GO COPLEY!!!

    11/30/18

Our team had their second scrimmage yesterday and the ladies performed well.  Still have some work to do but overall I am happy with their hard work and play.  Everyday at practice is an opportunity to get better and we are thankful for that.

    Thinking ahead:

    • Pictures are today in the New Gym. Will have practice after pictures.  Please have the team bring their game uniforms and practice jerseys
    • We have three games next week.  My motto for next week will be- "Let's go 3-0!"

    Thanks and GO COPLEY!!!!!

     11/20/18

Our girls team had their first scrimmage yesterday and they performed well.  Obviously with it being our first live game action, there was a lot of anxiousness by everyone.  We got a chance to work against another team and try our stuff.  Some stuff worked and some things we need to work on more.   Practice makes perfect!

The good news is we got a chance to play, have fun, and grow.  We will be back at it at practice tonight.

Looking forward to a great season.

Here are a couple of things to take note of:

    1. Please refer to this website for more information regarding the season.
    2. Please sign up for the Remind "text alert" notification.
    3. Please make sure your player is at practice and on time every day and ready to go.
    4. If you have any questions, always feel free to contact me.  Communication is the Key.

Congrats to your player for making the team and I can't wait to coach them!
