  • Scholarships are financial awards provided to the student by the government, individual organizations, and specific schools.  They can be need based or merit based.  Scholarships DO NOT need to be repaid.  Scholarships generally require a separate application in addition to the FAFSA and may have varying due dates.  A list of scholarships is posted below.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Some of the applications are available online.  Click on the links for more details. You can also visit the CollegeBoard Scholarship Search to search for the right scholarship for you.  Click here to view scholarship search strategies.


    ***The Local Scholarship Application is now available.  The deadline is February 4th at 3:00 p.m.  Please click here to download a copy of the application.*** Each year, The Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Foundation awards several local scholarships to CHS graduating seniors. This local scholarships application will be available on January 14th and will be due to Mrs. Kramer, Guidance Secretary, February 4th at 3:00 p.m.. You can print an application from our website at that time or you may pick one up in the guidance office. Please note that part of this application process is completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. We will ask you to turn in a copy of your Student Aid Report that you receive from FAFSA as part of your local scholarship application. We recommend that you complete the FAFSA between October 1st and December 1st.

    American Public Works Association (APWA) Ohio Chapter

    Graduating seniors who plan on pursuing a Public Works career in Engineering, Public Administration, Vocational/Trades or Environmental fields of study:

    Laker Erie Scholarship-Engineering or Administrative students; Rubber City Scholarship-Public Works field Vocational/Trade students; Western Reserve Scholarship-Environmental impact and Water Quality.

    Essay 500 to 1500 words with the theme being “Something I learned related to high school football.”  This is not limited to football players. Cheerleaders, band members or even fans can participate.

    Greater Akron Touchdown Club Foundation Scholarship

    Graduating seniors who plan on attending a college/university in the fall of 2019, during their senior year earn at least 1 varsity letter,  meet the minimum academic standards for applicants for Athletic grants-in-aid, and two letters of recommendation.     WACE-National Co-op Scholarship

    Seniors who have a cumulative 3.5 gpa or higher and will apply for admission to certain colleges/universities (see application for list of institutions). May complete the application online at www.waceinc.org or a paper application

    The William D. Squires Scholarship

    Financial need (FAFSA EFC amount must be less than 7,000), applicants must know their career goals, must be highly motivated and have good character, and must have a minimum 3.2 gpa. The application is available at:
