• Herberich Preschool Program
The Preschool program strives to provide quality education services to preschool-age children (ages 3 years old through 5 years old) and their families. Our non-categorical, integrated program is specifically designed to meet the needs of each child identified for the program.
Our preschool program is based upon developmentally appropriate curriculum, which addresses developmental age and individual exceptionalities. The curriculum focuses on the following four developmental domains:
    • Cognitive
    • Language
    • Affective
    • Physical
The preschool program will enable each child to be an active participant as he or she explores and is involved in the learning environment. The preschool program is housed at Herberich Primary School located at 2645 Smith Road, Akron, OH 44333-2899.
    Goals of the Preschool Program
    1. Enhance and facilitate development in all domains: cognitive, language, affective, and physical.
    2. Develop knowledge of self, others, and the physical and social world.
    3. Develop attitudes that encourage life-long learning, such as curiosity, initiative, persistence, and self-confidence as a learner.
    4. Develop thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    5. Develop ability to express one's own and identify others' perspective.
    6. Develop ability to see adults as respectful, nurturing, supportive, responsible, and helpful resources.
