School Health Services
Children spend the majority of their time in school. Research has shown if students are not healthy, their ability to reach academic potential is affect. To help meet the diverse healthcare needs, The Copley-Fairlawn City Schools contracts with Akron Children's School Hospital. Akron Children's School Health Services provides school nurses and medical assistants to all our schools. The medical assistants are supervised by our District School Nurse, Melissa Disantis. Please contact Ms. Disantis with any medical concerns at 330-664-4990.
Our School Health Services address the ongoing healthcare needs of children who have chronic conditions, such as asthma and diabetes, to help them manage their illnesses. This helps keep them healthy, in school and ready to learn. Our nurse also ensures children with complex healthcare needs, including those who are ventilator-dependent or need tube feedings, are able to attend school.
The School Health Services staff checks immunization records, administers medications, performs vision/hearing screenings, provides first aid, and gives lots of TLC.
