Gifted Education Services
Grades 2-4
In grades 2-4, identified gifted students receive services in their regular classroom through differentiation in the content area(s) where they are identified as gifted. Classroom teachers receive ongoing professional development in the nature and needs of gifted students.Each building provides various opportunities for enrichment, such as the 24 math game, book clubs, and STEM club. Check with your building principal for specific activities in your child's building.
Grades 5-8
In grades 5-8, gifted students who are identified as gifted in superior cognitive and/or reading will receive services in English Language Arts. In grades 5-8, advanced math classes are offered to students who are identified as gifted. All staff who teach these courses are trained in the nature and needs of gifted students and continue to participate in ongoing professional development to deepen their understanding.There are many clubs and academic competition groups that students can participate in to further enrich their learning experiences.
Grades 9-12
There are many options for students to participate in challenging coursework, such as Honors and AP courses. Please see the high school course catalog and guidance department for details. All teachers who teach honors and/or AP courses receive ongoing professional development in the area of gifted education and the nature and needs of gifted students.There is also a wide variety of enrichment opportunities through clubs and academic competitions.
