Online Resources and Student Privacy Information

Copley-Fairlawn City School District (CFCS) considers the privacy, safety and security of our staff and students to be one of our most important responsibilities. Keeping children safe and secure while online includes keeping their data private. CFCS reviews online apps and resources to ensure they are appropriate for instruction, are compliant with federal student privacy laws and have measures in place to protect personally identifiable information.

Annual Online Resources Consent Form
The CFCS Online Resources Consent Form is included in each student's online Annual Student Information Update form.
Online Resource Review Process & Form
Any online resource used with students that allows the creation of student accounts or the collection of student information is required to go through the CFCS Online Resource Review Process. This process involves looking closely at the data privacy policies of the companies providing those resources so that we can ensure our student and teacher data is not being used for other purposes. We have instituted this guideline to ensure compliance with student privacy laws and protect teachers and students so that personal identifiable information is not put at risk.

CFCS staff may submit a new site or extension for review by filling out this form.
Approved Online Resource List
The list of approved CFCS online apps and resources requiring student logins or student personally identifiable information is located here - CFCS Approved Online Resource List. Parents may fill out this form to opt students out of any of the approved sites.
Online Resource Permission Form
A generic online resource parental permission template can be accessed here (for students under the age of 13).
