The Fort Island PTA initiated a new, and healthy, tradition this year with the first annual Fall Hike fundraiser. The idea was to decrease the overall number of fundraising events and the amount of work done by the families to support them. Community sponsors contributed money to provide each child and teacher a Fort Island t-shirt featuring a logo designed by a fourth grade student. Everyone wore their shirts during the family hike through Fort Island Park. Parents joined their children’s classes on the hike and they were able to enjoy nature together. As an incentive, after the hike there was a student versus staff kickball game featuring a surprise appearance by the CHS Boys Soccer team and members of the girls volleyball and soccer teams 100% of the donations from this fun event went to PTA and will support their projects to help the students of Fort Island Primary School.
