Why do we fundraise? We provide funds to enhance each and every child's daily school experience. We support principal/teacher requests for financial aid. We pay for assemblies like Madcap and COSI. We subsidize some after school programs.
We support our state and national PTA as they work to make changes in government and school funding. We work with our school district on levy issues.
Last year we .......
In August we put together the student-parent handbooks that students received at Open House or on the first day of school. We helped file all those Open House packet forms! PTA volunteers greeted new kindergartners and escorted them to their classrooms the first week of school.
We organized several afternoon programs for our students: ZooMobile, Mad Science, and a talent show.
September was very busy - We sponsored and staffed COSI's Science of Sport assembly; we helped students "look beautiful" for picture day; we hosted our hugely popular and successful Grandparents Breakfasts.
October saw Room Parents arranging Halloween parties and activities. In October and November we provided staff members with dinner on the three conference nights. Thanksgiving feasts were enjoyed in some classroom as students learned about the Pilgrims' travels in our wonderful country. October was also Red Ribbon Week and we helped in making students aware of our DARE program.
The Gingerbread Shoppe in December enabled students to purchase inexpensive gifts for family members. And then there were the holiday parties! We enjoyed the musical and artistic efforts of our second and fourth graders, and the choir and handchime choir at the Winter Music Program. We helped with the set up and refreshments at this holiday event.
We celebrated our special dads at Valentines for Dad in February. Our room parents also organized and supervised Valentine's parties and we provided dinner for staff and teachers on conference night.
In March we enjoyed the musical and artistic efforts of our kindergartners, first and third graders, and the choir and handchime choir at the Spring Music Program. Once again we helped with the set up and refreshments.
April was time for spring pictures and we were amazed at how much the students had grown since the fall. We assisted with Kindergarten Registration, as well as the District Art Show.
Muffins for Mom in May was a time for Dads to get involved and help us honor our amazing mothers. Also in May, we helped with the Fitness Run and Field Day. Kids for the Cure Relay relied on many of our willing volunteers.
In June we enjoyed a school wide ice cream social to mark the end of the school year. On the last day of school, we celebrated the success of our graduating fourth grade class with cake and refreshments in the outdoor learning center after the Fourth Grade Assembly.
Thank you to all our volunteers ~ every minute you volunteer for our school is another special minute in the life of a child!
