Copley Wrestling TOP FIVE

Theseevents are the biggest team events in our off-season schedule

 

1.          Copley Freestyletourney : Sat. March 30th

-          Ourbiggest fundraiser, we need everyone’s help to run this 6 mat event… Copleywrestlers participate for free! (must have usa card)

 

2.          Team Dual camp: *DATE TBA (late June)*

-          10+matchesin two days with your teammates.  Greatcompetition for a great price, coach Dies will be distributing registrationinfo this spring!

 

3.          Open Mats /Freestyle club:  weekdays all offseason

-          Finda way to get to the room in the spring and summer.  There will be a Copley coach in the wrestlingroom AT LEAST once a week until the start of next season, don’t just get a yearolder, get a year better!   We will dosome traveling to other area open mats as well.

 

4.          Mulch Madness: *DATETBA*

-          Thisis another good fundraiser for the wrestling program, we need everyone’s help.  Short afternoon, wrestlers get to be outsidefor a change!

 

5.          Akron Marathon:  Sat. September 28th

-          Thistradition has been going on for 8+ years for the Running Indian Wrestlers.  In this event we form relay teams ofwrestlers and compete in the Akron Marathon. Running distances vary from 2 to 8 miles. Everyone receives food, gear,and a good time is had by all.

This is a brief list of campsthat Copley wrestlers have had experience with. Search them online for more info. There are many more camps in the area and Coach Dies also has a largecollection of flyers from Camps around the country.

Lutheran West (North EastOhio Championship Wrestling Camp):  This is a very affordable camp in earlyJuly with guest clinicians from OSU, includes technique and competitionincluding a tournament at the end. Great value, great experience.

 

Kent State UniversityWrestling Camps:  Several Campswith the Golden Flashes, Very affordable overnight camp.

 

Jeff Jordan (Graham) StateChamp Camps:  Several weeksthroughout the summer, must register in advance because this camp fills upquick. This is one of the top wrestling camps in the country.  This camp is for the dedicated high levelwrestler that wants to see how state champions train.

 

Eric Burnett B.T.W. (Elyria)Camps:  Severaldifferent weeks and weekends throughout the spring and summer.  Coach Burnett trains some of the topwrestlers in the country at these high level workouts.

 

Ohio State UniversityWrestling Camps:  Several Campsall summer long with the Buckeyes!

 

Mark Hawald wrestling camps:  Severaldifferent weeks throughout the spring and summer, an intensive camp designed tobe a college style training camp.

 

Mid-Ohio Big man Camp(Ashland Crestview):  Mid June weekendcamp, designed for the upper weights, includes collegiate coaches and heavyweight experts

 

Bruce Baumgartner Heavyweightschool (Edinboro University):  Late June, Early July heavyweight campwith Olympic gold medal winning instruction!

 

Titan Wrestling Club Camps:  Weekly camps runthroughout the summer by former CVCA wrestling coach Don Lorence.  Local (Located in Aurora, Ohio) camps thatCoach Dom attended in youth/high school! Talk to Coach Dom for more details!
