Everyday Math
Please refer to my Open House letter regarding our district-wide elementary math program: Everyday Math. Your child began this program in Kindergarten and will build upon their prior knowledge throughout the year. Each day will bring a new adventure as we visit numerous topics within one lesson! Hopefully, you will be pleasantly surprised with the content your child is able to bring home and share with you.
Don't forget to visit: http://www.everydaymathonline.com . I sent home your child's ID and password. If you need another copy throughout the year, please don't hesitate to ask! This will allow your child to access the website, play the corresponding math games, and increase their math knowledge!
Throughout the week, the First Grade teachers teach 4 lessons. We often use Fridays as Differentiation Days. This allows us to assess the children during the week, and focus on what they need extra help with. The kids seem to be enjoying these Fridays as well as the differentiation that is occurring throughout the week! Also, please make sure that your child is completing their Home Links every night and returning it to school the next day. Please be aware that if a Math lesson takes two days instead of one, there will not be homework on the first night!!
