Ms. Timbrell, Music Teacher

Music Education for all students, grades K through 4, is an integral part of the Fort Island educational experience. The General and Vocal Music Curriculum is based on the Copley-Fairlawn City School District Music Course of Study and its Instructional Guide. All student in first through fourth grade attend two Music Classes each week, consisting of a total of 70 minutes; Kindergarten students attend one Music Class each week consisting of a total of 35 minutes. Within these General/Vocal Music Classes, students focus on the study/usage of the elements of music -- melody, harmony, rhythm, form style, expression, dynamics, timbre and texture.

In addition to the General/Vocal Music Classes, all Fort Island Students have an opportunity to perform a curriculum-based, District approved Vocal and Instrumental (rhythm band) Music Concert. Outstanding Vocalists in Third and Fourth Grade also have an opportunity to enhance their Music experience through participation in the Grade-level Ensembles and Selected Singing Groups that are featured in these Concerts.

During the 2007-2008 school year, Second and Fourth Grade Students will perform a Winter Concert at Copley High School in the auditorium on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 7:00 PM. The First and Third Grade Students will perform a Spring Concert at Copley High School in the auditorium on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 7:00 PM. The Kindergarten Students will perform their Spring Concerts at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM at Fort Island in the Multipurpose Room on Thursday, May 22, 2005
