Hello and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my classroom! My name is Mariah Cadnum and I have been teaching at Fort Island School since 1999. I LOVE teaching 4th grade and my favorite subjects are Math and Social Studies. As a 4th grader, math was my hardest subject but I learned some tricks that made it easy and now I get to teach other kids some of my secrets that make math simple! I am also one of the lucky teachers who god a new Smart Board in my room. I try to do lots of interesting activities each day that incorporate technology into the subject areas we are studying.
I graduated from the University of Akron with my Bachelors in Teaching and a Masters Degree in Administration. I am the morning teacher in my classroom since I job share with Mrs. Burtoft. I have 2 beautiful and energetic children I spend the rest of my day with. All of my students have heard lots of Ben and Elise stories, they are my favorite to share! I also talk about Mr. Cadnum and his travels across the country and the world.
In my free time I like to spend time with my family and friends. I also love to cook and play the piano and curl up with a good book. I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of my students and I am sure we are all going to have a lot of wonderful new learning experiences this year!
